Redeeming a Gift Code

Where to find it: Left sidebar → Account → Subscription → scroll to the gift code entry area Open in 4TW ↗
If someone sent you a gift code, here’s how to use it:
  1. Open Subscription. Left sidebar → Account → Subscription.
  2. Scroll to the gift code entry area.
  3. Enter your code and confirm.
  4. Plan upgrades immediately for the gift duration (3 months, 6 months, or 1 year).
Your existing paid subscription pauses while the gift code is active. Once the gift period ends, your original subscription resumes automatically. You won’t be double-charged.
If you’re on a gift code or promotion, the Subscription page shows your expiry date. Your previous plan (if any) is paused and resumes when the gift period ends. You can’t cancel a gift code subscription; it simply expires on the listed date.

Gifting a Subscription

You can buy a subscription as a gift for another Dust Warrior, or donate to the Community Pool to help writers who need financial assistance.

Gifting to a specific player:
  1. Find the gift section. Scroll to Member Gift Options, Pro Gift Options, or Lifetime Gift on the Subscription page.
  2. Choose a duration (3 months, 6 months, 1 year, or Lifetime).
  3. Select a gift option and start checkout.
  4. Pick the recipient. Search for the player by username.
  5. Complete payment. The recipient gets a notification and can redeem the code from their Subscription page.
  6. Gift History. Your purchased code appears there for reference.
Donating to the Community Pool:
  1. Scroll to the Community Pool section on the gift code page.
  2. Choose a donation amount and complete the checkout.
  3. Donations go directly to Dust Warriors who have opted into the pool anonymously.

Frequently Asked Questions

Open Account → Subscription and scroll to the gift code entry section. Enter the code there. Your plan upgrades immediately for the gift duration. If you’re already on a paid plan, that plan is paused and resumes after the gift period ends. You won’t be double-charged.
Yes, you can buy and use as many codes as you like.
No. Unused gift codes do not expire.
After purchase, the code is shown on the “Thank You! Payment Successful” screen. It’s also saved in your Gift History, accessible from the Subscription page.
Double-check for typos. Gift codes are case-sensitive. Enter it on the Subscription page (not in chat or forum). If it still doesn’t work, confirm the code with whoever sent it, or use Contact Us.
No. You can’t use a gift code to downgrade. You’ll need to wait for your current Pro time to end before claiming the Member gift code.
Your active subscription is automatically cancelled so you’re not charged again. Any remaining subscription time you had is donated to the Community Pool so other Dust Warriors can use it.
Yes. Visit the Gift Options page to gift Lifetime memberships. Anyone, even without a 4thewords account, can buy gifts at 4thewords.com/gifts.
No. Anyone can buy gifts at 4thewords.com/gifts. They can send the code to an email address or directly to a Dust Warrior’s account by username.
Yes. Email developer@4thewords.com within 14 days of purchase for unused codes. If the code has already been redeemed, it cannot be refunded.
