How It Works

My Characters

This is your character roster: all the character looks you’ve built, ready to equip, edit, or download.
Where to find it: Left sidebar → HeroWardrobe Open in 4TW ↗
The My Characters screen showing character cards with Equip and Edit buttons, character limit counter, and Upgrade capacity
  1. See all your characters. Each card shows the character’s name, their avatar image, and quick-action buttons. The Character limit X/Y counter at the top shows how many slots you’ve used out of your plan’s total.
  2. Switch your active character. Tap Equip character on any card to make that avatar your active one. Your active character is the one that shows up in battles, on your profile, and throughout the game.
  3. Edit a character’s appearance. Tap Edit character to open the Wardrobe editor and change their clothing and accessories.
  4. Rename or change body type. Hover over a card and use the Edit name or body type button to rename the character or swap their body type.
  5. Download your avatar. Use the Download button to save a copy of your character’s image.
  6. Delete a character. Tap Delete character to remove a character permanently. You can’t delete your currently active character. Equip a different one first.
Once you earn or buy a Wardrobe item it is available for all of your characters. Equipping an item on one character doesn’t prevent another from equipping it as well. Deleting characters doesn’t delete wardrobe items.

If you’ve reached your limit, the Upgrade capacity button appears next to the counter. You can also buy extra character slots with Crystals.

Creating a New Character

Where to find it: Left sidebar → HeroWardrobeAdd character Open in 4TW ↗
  1. Tap Add character. (the button with a plus icon at the bottom of your character list).
  2. Choose a body type. You’ll pick between Type 1 and Type 2, two different visual styles for your hero’s base look.
Good to know: All clothing in the game is available for both body types. Your choice here is purely a visual preference. It never limits what you can wear.
  3. Give your character a name. Enter a name, then confirm to create them.
  4. Your new character opens in the Wardrobe editor. Dress them right away, or come back later.

Showcasing Your Characters

Your active/equipped character is your public face throughout 4thewords. It’s the avatar that appears next to your name in forum posts and replies, on your profile, and everywhere the game shows who you are. You can also choose to make your other characters visible to the community.
Where to find it: Left sidebar → HeroWardrobe (on each character card) Open in 4TW ↗
Character card showing the Public by default label for the active character
Your active character always shows Public by default on its card. This can’t be turned off. It’s always visible because it’s the hero others see when they interact with you. Your other characters each have a Make public toggle. Switch it on to share that character with the community. Switch it off to keep it private, only you will see it. When a character is made public, it appears in:
  • Your profile → Wardrobe Looks: a gallery of all your public characters visible to anyone who visits your profile
  • The community Lookbook: a rotating showcase where the community browses and votes on favorite character outfits. Votes reset weekly on Mondays.

Editing Your Character

The Wardrobe editor is where you outfit your hero with clothing, weapons, and accessories.
Where to find it: Left sidebar → HeroWardrobe → tap Edit character on any card Open in 4TW ↗
The Wardrobe editor showing search bar, Wardrobe Store button, item categories, and Save/Go back controls
  1. Browse items by body part. The editor organizes your wardrobe by slot: head, chest, feet, weapons, accessories, and more. Tap a category to see everything you own for that slot.
  2. Search your wardrobe. Use the Search for an item bar to find a specific piece by name.
  3. Equip an item. Tap any item in the grid to equip it. Your character preview updates instantly.
  4. Remove an item. Select an equipped item and tap Remove to take it off. To clear an entire look at once, use the Unequip items dropdown or tap Remove all items.
Mandatory slots: Some body parts, like hands, always need something equipped. If you can’t remove an item, that slot is mandatory. To change it, just equip a different item for that body part. The new item replaces the old one automatically.
  5. Go shopping. Tap Wardrobe Store to jump to the store and browse items to buy without losing your current changes.
  6. Save or discard your work. Tap Save to apply all changes. Tap Discard to cancel and revert the character to how they looked before. If you tap Go back, you’ll be asked to confirm before any unsaved changes are lost.

Wardrobe Store

The Wardrobe Store is where you buy new clothing, accessories, and wearable items using Crystals.
Left sidebar → HeroStores Or tap Wardrobe Store from inside the Wardrobe editor.

  3. Add to cart and purchase. Select what you want, then tap Go to cart to review your selections and complete the purchase.
  4. Items appear in your inventory right away. After purchasing, open the Wardrobe editor. The item will be there, ready to equip on any character.
