Hero Level

Your account has a single hero that grows stronger over time. As you battle monsters across the world, your hero earns EXP. Accumulate enough EXP and your hero levels up. With no level cap, you can keep climbing as long as you keep fighting.
Where to find it: Left sidebar → HeroInventory. Open in 4TW ↗

How you earn EXP

EXP comes from defeating monsters. Defeating monsters contributes EXP to your hero. Writing sessions alone don’t award EXP directly. The EXP flows through the battles your writing powers.

Leveling up

Each level requires more EXP than the last. The gap grows significantly at higher levels, so progression naturally slows as your hero advances. But there is no ceiling. When your hero levels up, a level-up celebration appears on screen. It shows your new level and the rewards you’ve earned. Rewards are delivered automatically. No action needed on your part. Some Battle Items require you to be a certain level to craft them.

Level rewards

Each level has its own reward set. Rewards can include:
Reward typeDescription
CoinsIn-game currency used across the game
Crafting materialsResources for crafting and upgrades
Unique itemsSpecial rewards that vary level to level

Inventory

Your inventory tracks everything your hero owns. Equipped gear, loot from battles, quest rewards, crafting materials, and more.

Equipped Gear

The top of the screen shows what your hero is currently wearing:
  • WEAPON 1 and WEAPON 2: your active weapons
  • Head, Chest, Feet, Accessory: equipped clothing and accessories
  • COMPANION: your active companion, if you have one
Above the gear panel are your three Battle Stats: Attack (more damage per word), Defense (more time in battles), and Luck (better item drops).
