Your Writing Streak tracks how many days you’ve written 444 or more words. Hit that goal every day to earn Streak Wings, Streak Medals, and other rewards as your streak grows. Two counters to watch: your Consecutive Streak (unbroken run) and your Total Streak Days (every writing day, all time).
Where to find it: Left sidebar → Journal → Writing Streak Open in 4TW ↗

Starting and Maintaining Your Streak

  1. Open the writing editor and write. Words you type in 4thewords count toward your daily total.
  2. Reach 444 words in a single day to complete your streak goal for that day.
  3. Your streak card shows a ring with today’s words out of 444. When you reach 444, it says Today counts. See you tomorrow.
  4. Come back the next day and do it again. Each consecutive day adds one to your streak.
Each day begins and ends at midnight in your Account Timezone. If you travel or move, update your timezone so the cutoff stays accurate.

Consecutive vs. Cumulative Streak

The streak page tracks two separate things, many Dust Warriors confuse them at first.
The streak card: the day streak, the days planned ahead, today's 444 ring, the next reward and this month's counts
Consecutive Streak
  • Current streak: your most recent unbroken run of days, shown as N day streak on your streak card
  • Longest streak: your personal record, shown as Longest: N days
  • Resets to zero if you miss a day
Cumulative Streak
  • Total Streak Days: every day you’ve ever written 444+ words, all time
  • Never resets, no matter how many times your consecutive streak breaks
As your Total Streak Days grows, your dashboard Writing Streak widget frame upgrades automatically, from Wood at 4 days all the way to Gemstone at 4,000+ days.

Your streak trophies

Below your calendar, the streak page shows a trophy case with your current streak, your longest streak and when it began, and your total streak days. Your highest wings stand in the middle and your medal stands beside them.

The page ends with the Hall of Wings, where writers who kept a streak for a year or more stand by the wings they earned.

The desktop app counts them in your writing apps and the Chrome Extension counts them on the web, no pasting needed.
Your consecutive streak resets to zero, but your Total Streak Days is not affected. You can start building a new consecutive streak the next day. Or use Stempos to save the missed day: every plan can save recent missed days, the Free plan up to 3 a month from the last 7 days.
Current streak counts your unbroken consecutive days right now, it resets when you miss a day. Total Streak Days counts every writing day you’ve ever had across your entire account lifetime, it never resets.
Word counts update in real time as you write. If you just crossed 444 words, wait a moment and refresh the page. If it still doesn’t update, check that the Saved icon in the editor header shows your words are saved.
If you’re writing close to midnight make sure the site has a chance to save before 11:59pm. Also, confirm your Account → Settings → Timezone is set correctly.
